About Us
Venture Niagara is located in the historic
Welland Mills building - an authentic grain
mill built in 1846 and carefully restored in 2007.
Established as a not for profit corporation in 1985, Venture Niagara is one of 61 Community Futures Development Corporations in Ontario. Venture Niagara invests in small and medium size businesses and carries out community development projects across rural Niagara.
For many years the corporation’s service area was limited to Welland Pelham and Thorold. In 2005, Venture Niagara’s service area increased to include several additional communities. Our service area now includes the municipalities of Grimsby, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Pelham, Thorold and Welland . We use our resources to help create permanent and sustainable employment for these communities.
The corporation provides financing to small businesses and is active in economic development projects to support and strengthen our communities.
Our business plan which includes our investment targets, activities and budget are submitted and approved by the federal government through FedDev Ontario on an annual basis.
Services are provided in both of Canada’s official languages.
In 2010, Venture Niagara celebrated it’s 25th anniversary.
