Community Economic Development Projects
Community economic development is an important aspect of Venture Niagara's role in the local economy. Recent projects have included key initiatives in tourism and culture.
Tourism Franco-Niagara
Tourisme Franco-Niagara (TFN): is a not-for-profit organization operating as a partnership between Tourism Niagara of the Niagara Economic Development Corporation, Venture Niagara Community Futures Development Corporation and Club 2000 Niagara Inc. The mandate is to promote Niagara as a destination to French-speaking tourists while showcasing the assets of Niagara’s tourism industry and the local francophone community. TFN successes include:
- the annual production and distribution Les Saisons Niagara, the French language tourism magazine, now in its 8th year;
- actively promoting Niagara at Quebec tradeshows;
- the development of a specialty map “Cycling in Niagara" (Niagara en vélo);
- promoting the bonjour campaign;
- developing and maintaining the www.bonjourniagara.com web site;
- providing research on the Quebec visitor to Niagara businesses.
Partnering organizations work together to attract more francophone tourists to the region and to provide bilingual employment opportunities for French-speaking individuals. www.bonjourniagara.com
Bonjour Campaign
The Bonjour Campaign The Bonjour campaign identifies and promotes French-friendly establishments throughout the region with the distribution of promotional kits (pins, various print material) and through Niagara's only French-language destination website: www.bonjourniagara.com

The official French-language tourism web site provides current information on the Niagara region. The site enjoys an active and faithful readership due to its content-rich, French-only position with an overwhelming majority of users from Montréal and surrounding areas. Recent additions include:

Les Saisons Niagara Magazine
Les Saisons Niagara Magazine: Tourisme Franco-Niagara publishes Les Saisons, Niagara's official French tourism guidebook. The guide is primarily distributed in Québec through travel shows and by mail to Quebec communities as well as Ontario Tourism Information Centres and Niagara hotels and attractions. Sports Tourism
Welland Sports Tourism Alliance
Venture Niagara and the City of Welland collaborate to promote the city as a sports event destination.
Communication tools such as the www.complayinwelland.com web site help WSTA partners to communicate with event organizers.
Niagara Sports Commission
Venture Niagara played an important role in the development of the Niagara Sport Commission with partners such as Brock University and Heart Niagara. The objectives of the Niagara sport commission are based on the following:
The Mandate: Foster economic and community development through sport.
The Mission: To enhance the economic, social, and personal health of Niagara residents through sport and physical activity
The Vision: To be the premier centre for sport and recreation in Ontario.
Arts & Culture Projects
Venture Niagara is committed to building vital communities through its contributions to local cultural initiatives.
IlluminAqua Arts & Culture Concert Series in Welland ON
Venture Niagara provided support and consultation to the Welland Recreational Canal Corporation and the City of Welland when launching an evening concert series on the banks of the Welland Recreational Canal. The event is a catalyst for enhanced development of the watercourse and surrounding area as well as entertainment throughout the community.
