Position: Bilingual Communication and Research Coordinator

Language: Bilingual (English and French) Essential

Salary: $25.00/hr. (35 hrs. a week)

Duration: May 14, 2018 – September 28, 2018

Purpose of the position

Venture Niagara has successful obtained project funding to develop and promote the Niagara’s French-speaking community services with the support provided by the Table interagence francophone du Niagara – an organization regrouping the various primary Francophone not-for-profit services and business entities of the Niagara region.

The Bilingual Communications/Research Coordinator will report to the Project Manager and be primarily tasked to research, compile, present, and promote specific information to then provide this data to the assigned marketing agency that is to further develop the community website.

The information collected will serve to identify, enhance, and to promote all the French services offered throughout the Niagara region. This data will also be made available for use towards the preparation of the second edition of the francophone community profile.


Working closely with the Project Manager, the Project committee, the Marketing Agency, and Niagara Region, the Bilingual Communications/Research Coordinator will ensure to:

  • Research, network and liaise with all the relevant entities to ensure up-to-date information on the French language services offered in Niagara including, but not limited to: health; seniors; education; youth; daycares; immigration; service clubs; religious institutions; tourism; etc.
  • Create a database to include detailed information on all the existing French language service providers in Niagara and their respective services.
  • Review, correct and update as instructed the content for
  • Communicate with any potential service provider in either French or English.
  • Provide additional project support as may be requested by the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate all committee meetings.
  • Ensure to share data with all the parties: the Project Manager; the Marketing Agency, and the Project Committee.


  • Post-Secondary Education preferred
  • Five (5) years related work experience
  • Knowledge of the Niagara French community
  • Strong research and writing skills in both official languages
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and diplomatic skills
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) skills and strategies: public relations & media relations
  • Strong ability to utilize web-based tools
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and to work independently
  • Functional bilingualism (French and English) is essential
